Season 2 Episode 2: One Page Business Plan: Structuring Your Business Home with Teresa Fidge

I am super excited to welcome my very first guest for the new season of the This Mum Loves Tech podcast, and it’s actually her first ever podcast recording! Teresa Fidge is a strategic partner for business, originally from Australia she’s now living just outside Milan, Italy, and works with solo business owners to help them step back, see the big picture, and stop fighting fires.

Teresa created a visual, one-page business plan called the "Business Home" framework. The idea is simple: when you own a business, it should feel like home. You get to choose how you decorate it, who you invite in, and how you set it up.

Her framework maps out the key areas of your business as rooms in a house:

• The Bedroom: Your day-to-day vision for your life and what you actually want your routine to look like.
• The Spa Room: How you look after yourself so you have the energy to achieve that vision without burning out.
• The Office: Your essential back-office systems and backend tech.
• The Living Room: Your client experience and how people feel when working with you.
• The Kitchen: The core work, products, and services you are creating.
• The Garden & Gate: Your marketing visibility, key messaging, and the steps people take before buying.
• The Project Path: A dedicated side path for all those new ideas so they don't clutter up your main house! 

Starting with an "Anti-Vision"

One of my favourite parts of our chat was when Teresa explained why she starts by asking clients for their "anti-vision", the exact things they don't want to happen. Many mums set up businesses to leave behind corporate stress, rigid hours, or burnout. Keeping what you don't want front and centre ensures you don't accidentally recreate a job you hate inside your own business.

Teresa’s Favourite Tech Tool

We couldn't end the episode without talking tech! Teresa's favourite tool is Google Workspace because it acts as a single source of truth for all her business data. She loves using Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and has even been using Google Sites as a simple, effective client portal.
