It was such a lovely to have Laura Gooderson on the podcast this week. Laura is an Instagram specialist and the founder of LG Insightful Brands, and she has a way of making social media feel intentional rather than exhausting.

Moving from “Spaghetti Marketing” to a Strategic Cycle

One of the biggest things I learnt form our conversation is that consistency alone isn’t enough if you don’t have a plan. Laura explains that many small business owners suffer from “burnout” because they are throwing spaghetti at the wall, posting randomly and hoping something sticks.

Instead, Laura teaches a three-part success cycle for Instagram:

  1. Growth: Content specifically designed to be found by new people.
  2. Trust: Nurturing the followers you already have so they see you as the expert.
  3. Conversion: Knowing how to transition those followers into paying clients.

Laura is incredibly honest about what it’s like to run two businesses, LG Insightful Brands and her first business, First Treasures, while managing a busy family life. We chatted about the reality of the “motherhood juggle,” from working at 5:00 AM before the kids wake up to navigating childcare during school holidays. Her advice? Be kind to yourself and build a strategy that fits into your actual life, not an idealised version of it.

Why Niching Down with Your Instagram Content is a Growth Hack

Laura reminds us that trying to appeal to everyone usually ends up appealing to no one. By identifying your “easiest wins”, the clients you love working with and who are most profitable, you can make your Instagram wording much more intentional. When you know exactly who you are talking to, the content starts to write itself.
